The DNC may be over but my memories of the historic event will stay with me forever.
I was lucky enough to be one of 200 content creators selected to represent True Star and cover the DNC. This was the first time in history that this special type of coverage was ever done. My experience at the DNC was amazing. Not only because I was selected to participate, but because of all the information I received along with getting a true feel for the political culture.
I attended the Caucus and got a true explanation on what Kamala Harris’ team plans to do. I also got to be in the presence of noteable people such as John Legend, and Bernie Sanders, and was able to meet and interview many politicians and delegates. Some of my favorite meet-ups were with Charlemagne, Stacy Abraham, Angela Rye, and one of my favorite philosophers, Cornel West.
The United Center energy was amazing all four days matching the feel of a packed sporting
event like the Super Bowl or the World Cup. I got the opportunity to meet many fellow
content creators and learn different tricks from them. That was an opportunity I will
always remember and be grateful for. Not only have I added some amazing images to my portfolio, but I also got the opportunity to see Michelle and Barack Obama speak along with Oprah Winfrey, Kerry Washington, Stevie Wonder and many more. There was a time when I could only dream about seeing these people who were a part of my upbringing live and in person. Thanks to this DNC experience my dreams have now become a reality.
