Chicago Bears Partnership Activation Specialist Josh Walls recently visited the True Star headquarters to talk about his role with the organization, how he got there, and how young people can find a way to get involved in their chosen field.

Walls has always been in the sports industry, and that’s been his goal for his entire life. “I’ve kinda always wanted to be in sports,” Walls told True Star. “What capacity that was, I didn’t know.” He actually began as a graduate assistant and athletic trainer at St. Joseph’s University and Temple University from 2019-2021. He ended up moving to his current field of partnership marketing and activation with the NFL’s Detroit Lions. Walls worked in Detroit for two years before moving to the Bears in May 2023.

In his current role, Walls works with different brands that work with the Bears to make sure that they are happy with their partnership with the team. In addition to working with existing partners, he also works with brands that would like to partner with the Bears. Well-known partners with the Bears include United Airlines (the official airline of the Bears), Hyundai, Dr. Pepper, Weber Grills, Miller Lite, and PNC Bank (the official bank of the Bears).

Walls poses with True Star Co-founder DeAnna McLeary Sherman and the True Star staff and participants.

The lasting message from Walls was the emphasis on continuously building your network and to not take your resources for granted. In fact, Walls attributes his ability to get into and stay in the NFL purely based on his strong league network. “Your experience and your network is highly, highly important,” he said. “It’s also important to take advantage of every resource you’ve got.”

We’d like to thank Josh Walls for stopping by the True Star headquarters to share his experiences with us, so that our participants can continue to work at building out network, strengthen the foundation, and create the next generation of young leaders.
