Every summer, after a season filled with content creation and skill-building, we gather together to head downtown to the Adobe office for what we affectionately call Adobe Day.
This year Adobe Day for our True Stars was filled with knowledge, assessment of our own skill sets, and, all in all, a memorable time. From the moment we entered the office, we were directed to a room where we met our host Jerry Stoffl who is a Principal Business Consultant, along with the Adobe team. TS participants were assigned Adobe mentors who also serve as members of the company’s marketing and sales teams, designers, and support staff. Linking up with them meant getting to network outside of your circle of Stars and meet an extraordinary team who’d love nothing more than to remain connected with you.

Not only was this an opportunity to open yourself up to internship opportunities, but it was also a great way to have connections across the board. From there, we broke out into separate rooms. We were faced with the task to create compelling marketing material for True Star’s From The ‘Go Fest using Adobe Express. With excitement boiling for the then upcoming festival, this was a perfect opportunity to act on that anticipation for the sake of promoting the event. With full creative control, some groups made flyers filled with all you need to know about From The ‘Go, whereas some made and edited video-style reels.

After the breakout rooms and lunch, we returned to the anti-hero conference room to meet our judges: Olivia Woke, Data Operations Manager; Ebony Graves, Technical Support Engineer at Adobe; and True Star’s very own Tech Coordinator and Podcast Instructor, Paris Cannon. After brief introductions of their background, we presented what we created. Participants had the chance to win $50 per winner if they got first, and runner-ups $25 per winner.

Each presentation had its own strengths, and it was not only entertaining but also truly a learning experience, whether you won or lost. Our Stars walked away with not only a creative experience, but unforgettable knowledge and tips on how to gain traction and engagement through using Adobe Express.
“Going to Adobe was a different experience for me. From meeting people who worked on and created Adobe to actually using the app myself,” said Unique Lowrey, 17, an upcoming senior at Dyett High School. “I really enjoyed myself and left feeling inspired.”
